Androulla Kyprianou (P.G. HOM.)
A few years ago, whilst I was working for a housing association, I became very unwell mainly due to a high level of stress, bad and irregular eating habits and a lack or proper exercise. I saw a leaflet in a local health shop and never having been one to like taking pills and medicines I went to see a Naturopath. I was amazed at how quickly I started to feel better just by following her advice and making simple changes to my diet and life style, some of which, now with hindsight, are basic common sense. But I needed to be told.
I became ‘hooked’ on complementary medicine’ so, when a few years later I was made redundant, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
I undertook a number of courses over the next few years. These included:
- Anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Naturopathy which included some Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), iridology, auricular acupuncture, Baunscheidt and cupping
Then I studied Naturecure, which not only covered natural treatments like fasting, detoxification, breathing exercise, water and magnet therapy but also, traditional Ayerverdic, Chinese, Tibetan and South American medicines and treatments.
I treat everyone as an individual. For example the reasons why two people get symptoms like headaches are likely to be quite different. I find that I get good results by integrating the different therapies to suit each individual. So my homoeopathy patients will also get some naturopathic advice about their diet and lifestyle.
After qualifying as a Homoeopath and Naturopath I was surprised at the number of patients I was seeing who had allergies and food intolerances. When I heard about NAET, Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, I initially thought it sounded too good to be true. After doing the basic course I started treating my existing patients, family and friends with NAET and again I was amazed at the results. I did the Advanced 1 course in March 2006 and further Advanced 2 courses in October 2006 and October 2008.
I have learnt so much about different complementary therapies and I continue to do so by following a programme of continual professional development. As well as more Advanced NAET courses I have now completed a two year post graduate diploma in homoeopathy with the renowned homoeopath Dr. Subrata Banerjea of the Allen School of Homoeopathy in Chelmsford, Essex.
I am also now a qualified Advanced Practitioner in EFT having passed levels 1, 2 and 3 to be registered as an Advanced Practitioner with AAMET the Association of Meridian Energy Techniques.
I am passionate about the work I do and I enjoy talking to small groups about health issues and teaching them about the different therapies that I practice. I believe strongly that the best way forward has to be an integration of modern, complementary and preventative medicine. This integration offers patients the best chance of achieving Good Health for Life.
